Hey guys! I’m back with a little update on how life is going with baby boy. I’m on the last few weeks of my mat leave and boy oh boy, things change daily over here! He’s been developing so quickly lately. I can’t believe he’s almost 1. I’ve already started planning his birthday, haha. Exciting! Alright.. here is how life is like (for me!) with a 10-month old. Feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Around 6:30am – Up & nurse
7am – Breakfast & play
11am – Up & nurse
11:30am – Lunch & play
2:30pm – Nap
3:30pm – Up, nurse & play
5pm – Dinner
Around 7pm – Bath, nurse & bed
As I mentioned in my last baby update post, he has been sleeping through the night since 7 1/2 months. His bedtime varies depending on the day and the naps he has had. He goes to bed anywhere between 6 and 8:30pm and wakes up between 5:30 and 7am. I find that the earlier he goes to bed, the longer he sleeps! When he goes to bed later, he wakes up earlier, go figure. Hence the importance of good naps throughout the day and bed as soon as he is tired, in my opinion.
Solids have been tricky since the start. I now offer him pretty much anything we eat, which is great. Some things he loves, others he won’t even touch. I do see a big difference this month, he eats more and more every week. I just recently started giving him 3 meals a day. He nurses about every 4 hours now, which is much less often than before, so that’s also an indication that he’s filling up on other foods! He LOVES all fruit (especially pears, peaches and cherries), corn, plain yogurt, baby cereal and peanut butter toast. Still not a big fan of meat, but getting there.
Crawling everywhereeeee. At about 9 1/2 months, he finally figured out how to crawl. Since then, he’s been moving quicker and quicker every day. This week, he discovered the dog’s water dish and the stairs. I’ve been moving the furniture around in the living room to keep him contained so I don’t have to follow him around constantly! He also sits in his crib when he wakes up and waits for me to come and get him. It’s the cutest thing. He also loves to play peek-a-boo & enjoys our lab Sadie wayyy to much, poor girl.
He’s so much fun! He tags along with us, no matter what we are doing and he’s (almost) always happy! He loves the action. His naps are more predictable and usually a good length, which allows me to get things done and also relax a little before he wakes up and the craziness starts up again.
I feel like he gets bored sometimes, which makes him fussy. He can play by himself and be happy for a good amount of time, but by the end of the day it’s like he’s over his toys and he gets bored. I’m (a tiny bit) excited for him to play with others his age and a bit older when he goes to daycare. I think he will love that.
This coming weekend, we are taking him to Vancouver with us. So excited to get out of our usual routine and make great memories as a family. I’m also very curious to see how he will do!
