Good morning! Last January, I came up with a list of goals for the New Year. Now that June is here and we’re almost half way through the year, I though it would be fun to give you a little update on these goals!
1.GET OUT MORE WITH BABY
My little one was born in October and for the first 3 months of his life, I believe I went out once with him by myself. As a first time mom, the though of it scared me. Now that he’s over 7 months old, things are certainly easier. I do need to push myself once in a while to go out with him, perhaps because I lack energy. It takes a bit of planning and organizing and packing before leaving the house with baby, even if it’s for a quick errand. Sometimes, the though of leaving the house exhaust me, but I push myself and I never regret it!
2.GET TOGETHER WITH OTHER MOMS
Done. So proud of myself. When I was pregnant, I didn’t think I’d sign up for mom & baby activities or go on play dates. I didn’t think I was that type. I’ve always been a home body (still am), so I figured I’d spend most of my time at home with my little one and that I’d be perfectly happy. Turns out, maternity leave can be quite lonely. You spend your days (and nights) attached with this little baby. He’s cute and all, but mama needs to socialize and talk to grown ups! I’ve done a bunch of classes (still am) and I get together with other moms at least once a week now. Feels so good!
3.GET BACK IN SHAPE
In January, I had decided that I was going to make the effort to eat well and exercise daily. I put my Fitbit bracelet back on my wrist and I aim to do about 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. On most days, I usually get pretty close to 8,000 steps! Turns out I’m way more active now, taking care of a baby, than when I was working in an office all week (go figure). That said, I do go for long walks about 3x a week, however, I did not start working out yet. I can come up with a bunch of excuses (I’m so tiredddddd), but I won’t. I did decide to finally quit the gym. That’s right. I’m just over gyms. I’m going to workout from home, much easier for me. I’m planning on starting 21 Day Fix, let me know if you have any other at-home workout plans you love!
I do blog more and more, which makes me happy, which is the whole point of this. It can be hard to find the time, but I do the best I can! I don’t want to pressure myself to a number of posts a week, because every week is different and I don’t want this hobby to feel like work. I have fun with it and I want it to stay that way. I do have a few projects in the works regarding my blog, which I’m excited about!
5. GO EASY ON MYSELF
This goes in line with the previous point. I don’t want to pressure myself to accomplish what’s on my to-do list. I’ll get to it when I get to it. My priority is my son. That’s it. I don’t want to be a lazy mom though, I do push myself every day to accomplish little things, because it’s easy to crash on the couch when baby sleeps. I do rest when I really feel the need. I won’t push myself if I’m completely exhausted, but if I’m feeling lazy, then I get off my butt and get productive.
6.FOCUS ON THE PRESENT
I do find myself focussing on the present more. Putting my phone and laptop away, turning off the TV, and giving my whole attention to baby J. I’m with him every single day, and yet, I see him change and grow by the minute. I want to take it all in. I do think about the future often, can’t help it, but I try not to worry. I trust that everything will work itself out. No need to lose sleep and get anxious about the unknown.
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read!
